Nominees have been announced for this yearâs Walkley Awards for Journalism.
ABC dominated the television nominees including 7:30âs investigation into Cardinal George Pell, Sophie McNeilâs ABC News coverage on Mosul and Chris Uhlmannâs Insiders assessment of President Trump which went viral.
Seven is nominated for Sunday Night and Seven News, Nine gets nods for Nine Newsâ Laurie Oakes, A Current Affair and 60 Minutesâ Tara Brown, just a year after her Beirut saga.
But this year the Walkleys has come under fire for removing International News as a stand-alone category.
Winners will be announced on November 29, at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, broadcast live on A-PAC from 8pm AEDT and live-streamed on walkleys.com and a-pac.tv.

Craig McPherson, Sevenâs Director of News and Public Affairs, said: âDetermination and devotion best sums up the Seven News and Sunday Night nominations. Australiaâs child brides was a 12 months battle to get to air, requiring exhaustive FOIs and then further legal challenges to expose what is happening. Bryan and Megan drove it from start to end with help from 7 News colleagues across three states.
âSunday Nightâs Matt Doran spent eight months working with the US state and federal authorities to expose the heinous child sex slavery operation in Haiti. Matt went undercover to get inside the centre of the dangerous cartel. This extraordinary investigation culminating in a dramatic high seas sting, bringing down the human trafficking syndicate. More importantly his personal crusade was instrumental in the direct rescue of 30 children.â
